The foundation of the company is based on the establishment of Industrie GmbH by Dr. Wilhelm Schaeffler and Dr.-Ing. E.h. Georg Schaeffler in 1946. The company's rise began in 1949 when Dr. Georg Schaeffler invented the needle roller cage, followed by the large-scale production of INA needle roller bearings for the German automotive industry.
Schaeffler Group initiated its activities in Turkiye with the establishment of INA Rulmanları Tic. Ltd. Şti. in 1986 and the founding of the FAG Rulmanları Turkiye liaison office in the same year. With FAG's incorporation into the Schaeffler Group in 2001, they continued their operations jointly, and the company name was changed to Schaeffler Turkiye Endüstri ve Otomotiv Tic. Ltd. Şti. on October 11, 2016.
